Spring Break, Small Business, and Big Dreams: A Look Behind the Scenes

Building a Business While Soaking in the Moments That Matter

Spring Break used to mean something entirely different before I became a mom. Back then, it was spontaneous road trips, lazy mornings, and a chance to unwind. Now? It’s a week of trying to keep my kids entertained, juggling business tasks, and reminding myself that yes, I signed up for this level of chaos.

But this Spring Break feels different. It’s our first one while actively building Maeve & Rayne Play Lounge, and every day is a mix of excitement, stress, and a whole lot of deep breaths.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to start a business while raising kids, here’s an inside look at our Spring Break—where family time and entrepreneurship collide.

The Juggle: Kids, Business, and a Never-Ending To-Do List

This week, while my girls are home from school, I’ve been balancing two very different roles: Mom on Spring Break, Hired Designer, and Business Owner in Crunch Time.

Here’s what my days have looked like:

☀️ Mornings: Playing referee to sibling squabbles, making breakfast, and squeezing in work before the house gets too loud.

🎨 Afternoons: Fun activities with the kids (which might involve me taking work calls while they read, draw, or build pillow forts).

📱 Evenings: Catching up on emails, planning for our grand opening, and reminding myself that one day, this hustle will all be worth it.

It’s not perfect. Some days, I feel guilty that I’m not giving my kids all of my attention. Other days, I feel guilty that I’m not giving the business all of my energy. But I remind myself: I’m doing this for them.

Spring Break Reminders for Busy Parents

If you’re a parent trying to juggle work and family this week, here’s what I’m reminding myself:

It doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect. Kids don’t need elaborate plans—they just want our time and attention (even if it’s 20 minutes of undivided playtime).

Work will still be there tomorrow. Yes, deadlines matter. But so do these fleeting moments with our kids.

We are setting an example. I want my kids to see hard work, resilience, and passion in action—but I also want them to see balance.

Why We’re Creating a Space for Families Like Ours

One of the biggest reasons we’re opening Maeve & Rayne Play Lounge is because we get how hard it is to find spaces where kids can play and parents can actually breathe.

I know what it’s like to want a break without feeling guilty. To need a space where my kids are entertained, safe, and happy—so I can catch my breath for a moment. That’s what we’re building.

This Spring Break, while I’m balancing it all, I’m also dreaming of the day when families like mine will have a place to go—a space designed with kids and parents in mind.

So, here’s to the parents hustling through Spring Break. Whether you’re working, resting, or just surviving this week—I see you. And I can’t wait to welcome you to our play lounge soon. 💛

♥️ Playfully yours, your mom-friend in fun, Lynne
